Giải Bài 1 trang 27 SGK Tiếng Anh 12
Đề bài
Work in pairs. Discuss the differences between Vietnamese culture and some other cultures you know about. Use the ideas in Getting Started and Reading, and the table and examples below to help you.
| Country | Viet Nam | South Korea | ... |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Cuisine | pho, bun cha, spring rolls | kimchi, tteokbokki | |
| Music | | | |
| Traditional clothing | | | |
Example:
A: South Koreans seem to eat a lot of spicy food, such as kimchi and tteokbokki, while our traditional dishes, like bun cha and pho, are not very spicy in general.
B: I agree. How about music? I think in both countries, young people like to listen to pop music, but K-pop focuses mainly on dance groups while our pop music is usually produced by solo artists.

Gợi ý trả lời
Bài 1 (trang 27) — Speaking: Planning a Cultural Diversity Day
*Yêu cầu: Thảo luận theo cặp về sự khác biệt giữa văn hoá Việt Nam và một số nền văn hoá khác, dựa vào bảng và ví dụ cho sẵn.*
a) Hoàn thành bảng so sánh (gợi ý điền):
| Country | Viet Nam | South Korea | Japan (cột trống tự chọn) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Cuisine | pho, bun cha, spring rolls | kimchi, tteokbokki | sushi, ramen, tempura |
| Music | pop music by solo artists, *đàn bầu*/folk songs (*quan họ*) | K-pop dance groups | J-pop, traditional *taiko* drumming |
| Traditional clothing | *ao dai*, *non la* (conical hat) | *hanbok* | *kimono* |
b) Bài nói mẫu theo cặp (dùng cấu trúc so sánh *while / whereas*, *both … and*, *such as / like* đúng như ví dụ SGK):
A: South Koreans seem to eat a lot of spicy food, such as kimchi and tteokbokki, while our traditional dishes, like bun cha and pho, are not very spicy in general.
B: I agree. How about music? I think in both countries, young people like to listen to pop music, but K-pop focuses mainly on dance groups while our pop music is usually produced by solo artists.
A: That's right. And if we look at Japan, their food is quite different again. They often eat raw fish, such as sushi, whereas we usually cook or grill our meat and fish.
B: Good point. In terms of traditional clothing, I find it interesting that each country has its own style. Vietnamese people wear the *ao dai*, whereas Koreans wear the *hanbok* and the Japanese wear the *kimono*.
A: Exactly. What strikes me is that all three outfits are elegant, but the *ao dai* is long and fitted, while the *hanbok* and *kimono* tend to be looser and more layered.
B: I couldn't agree more. So although these cultures are different in cuisine, music and clothing, they all take great pride in preserving their traditions.
c) Một số mẫu câu hữu ích để diễn đạt sự khác biệt (ngôn ngữ SGK Unit 2):
- *… seem to … , while / whereas we …*
- *In both countries, … , but …*
- *… is / are different from … because …*
- *Unlike …, we usually …*
- *One major / cultural difference is that …*
