## Project: INTRODUCE A CULTURE

Gợi ý cách làm (SGK Tiếng Anh 12 – Unit 2): Đây là bài Project nói theo nhóm, không có "đáp án đúng – sai" cố định. ### a) Mở bài – giới thiệu nhóm và chủ đề (Introduction)

> Good morning, everyone. We are Group 1, and today we would like to introduce you to the fascinating culture of Japan. Our presentation covers five main points: the country, its language, traditional festivals and customs, music, dance and fashion, and finally its cuisine.

b) Name of the country (Tên nước)

> Japan is an island country in East Asia, lying in the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Tokyo. Japan is often called "the Land of the Rising Sun". The country is famous for being a place where ancient traditions and modern technology exist side by side.

c) Language(s) spoken (Ngôn ngữ)

> The official language is Japanese, which is spoken by almost the whole population. The Japanese writing system uses three scripts: *kanji* (characters borrowed from Chinese), *hiragana* and *katakana*. English is also widely taught in schools as a foreign language.

d) Traditional festivals and customs (Lễ hội và phong tục truyền thống)

> Japan has many colourful festivals, called *matsuri*. One of the most famous is the Cherry Blossom Festival (Hanami), when people gather under blooming cherry trees in spring to enjoy the flowers. Another important event is the New Year (Oshogatsu), when families visit temples to pray for good luck.

> The Japanese are well known for their politeness. People bow to greet each other instead of shaking hands, and they take off their shoes before entering a house. The tea ceremony is a traditional custom that shows respect, harmony and calmness.

e) Music, dance, and fashion (Âm nhạc, điệu múa và trang phục)

> In music, Japan is known for traditional instruments such as the *koto* and the *taiko* drums, as well as for modern J-pop, which is popular with young people. A famous traditional performing art is Kabuki theatre, which combines drama, dance and music.

> The traditional costume is the kimono, a long robe with wide sleeves and a beautiful belt called an *obi*. People usually wear it on special occasions such as weddings and festivals.

f) Cuisine (Ẩm thực)

> Japanese food is famous all over the world for being fresh and healthy. The most well-known dish is sushi – rice served with raw fish or seafood. Other popular foods include ramen (noodle soup), tempura (fried seafood and vegetables) and miso soup. Meals often come with green tea.
