a) How do you manage your household and garden waste?

*In my family, we try to manage our household and garden waste carefully. First, we sort our waste into different types before throwing it away. We keep organic waste such as food scraps, vegetable peels and leftovers in a separate bin. We also collect recyclable items like paper, plastic bottles, glass and metal cans, and sell them to the junk collectors or put them in the recycling bins. For our garden waste such as dead leaves, grass clippings and small branches, we make compost in a corner of the garden. After a few weeks, this compost turns into natural fertiliser that we use for our plants and vegetables. The remaining waste that cannot be reused or recycled is put into a covered bin and collected by the local waste service.*

b) Is it environmentally friendly?

*Yes, I think the way my family manages waste is quite environmentally friendly. By sorting and recycling, we reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfills. Making compost from garden waste helps us avoid using chemical fertilisers, which is good for the soil and for our health. It also saves money and keeps our garden green. However, there is still room for improvement. We could try to reduce single-use plastic even more and reuse old items instead of throwing them away. In general, managing waste properly is a simple but meaningful way to protect the environment and build a sustainable lifestyle.*
