Mum: I started Grade 1 in 1980, so I finished high school in 1992.
Long: I want to hear more about your lower secondary school. What was it like?
Mum: It was close to the paddy field. There was not much. The buildings were all one-story, but we had a large yard.
Long: What about the subjects? Are they the same as we did today?
Mum: We didn’t have any computer skills class. There was no computer in the whole school.
Long: Oh, what about foreign languages?
Mum: I started learning English in Grade 6.
Long: Really, so you didn’t learn any foreign language in primary school?
Mum: Not at all.
Long: And did you have lunch at school?
Mum: No, we didn’t. We only learnt half a day, either in the morning or afternoon.
Long: That’s cool. So what did you do after school? Did you have much homework?
Mum: Actually, no. We didn’t have much homework. After school, we often helped our families with housework.
