B. GRAMMAR

1. TO-INFINITIVE / INFINITIVE WITH TO

ex: He doesn’t want to know. a. S + V + to Vo Sau một số động từ sau :

want would like agree attempt decide wish demand refuse determine expect fail hope intend manage plan prepare pretend promise b. S + V + O + to Vo

advise allow ask invite want = would like persuade remind encourage force urge

TRONG CÁC CẤU TRÚC: • It takes / took + O + thời gian + to Vo ex:It takes Nam two hours to do that exercise. • Chỉ mục đích ex: I went to the post office to send a letter. • S + V + Noun / pronoun (something, somewhere, anything…) + to Vo ex: I have some letters to write. ex: Is there anything to eat? • It + be + adj + (for O) + to Vo : thật … để .. ex: It is interesting to study English • S + be + adj + to Vo ex: I’m happy to receive your latter. • S + V + too + adj / adv + to Vo ex: He is too short to play basket ball. • S + V + adj / adv + enough + to Vo ex: He isn’t tall enough to play basket ball. • S + V + enough + N + to Vo • S + find / think / believe + it + adj + to Vo ex: I find it difficult to learn English vocabulary. • Sau các từ nghi vấn: what, who, which, when, where, how,… (nhưng thường không dùng sau why)

ex: I don’t know what to say.

• S + V + the first/ second/ the next / the last/ the only + N….+ to Vo • S + be allowed/ be permitted/ be recommended/ be advised + to Vo • S + advise/ recommend/ encourage/ allow/ permit + O + to Vo

NOTE: • allow / permit / advise / recommend + O + to Vo ex: She allowed me to use her pen. • allow / permit / advise / recommend + V-ing ex: She didn’t allow smoking in her room. 2. BARE INFINITIVE / INFINITIVE WITHOUT TO

Trong các trường hợp sau:

• let / make + O + Vo He made me cry. • had better/ would rather + Vo You had better take an aspirin. • Will you please/ Would you please/ Could you please + Vo • can/ could/ will/ would, must, have to… + Vo • used to + Vo • let’s + Vo • but / except + Vo

NOTE 1. be made + to-inf ex: I was made to clean my room.

2. Động từ help:

- help + O + Vo/ to Vo - help + O + with + N

ex: My brother helped me do my homework. My brother helped me to do my homework. My brother helped me with my homework. 3. Động từ chỉ tri giác: - Các động từ chỉ tri giác: hear, sound, smell, taste, feel, watch, notice, see, listen, find .. + O + V1 (chỉ sự hoàn tất của hành động – nghe hoặc thấy toàn bộ sự việc diễn ra)

Ex: I saw her get off the bus. - Các động từ chỉ tri giác: hear, sound, smell, taste, feel, watch, notice, see, listen, find .. + O + V-ing (chỉ sự việc đang diễn ra)

Ex: I smell something burning in the kitchen.
